Our Corporate Mentor Program is designed to provide university students, especially first-generation undergraduates with valuable insights, guidance, and support as they prepare to enter the dynamic world of business and industry.

Program Details

The Corporate Mentor Program partners with first-generation undergraduate students at the Mike Ilitch School of Business at Wayne State University with business professionals to help students navigate career planning, resume preparation, job shadowing, networking opportunities, lasting professional relationships, and much more!

By participating in this program, students will be paired with professionals who provide individualized help. Mentors are matched with students based on academic and career fields, common interests, and availability. This ensures a tailored mentorship experience that addresses each student's unique needs and aspirations.

Our program employs an online one-on-one mentoring model, making it accessible and convenient. The program runs for two semesters (fall/spring), starting in September. We are committed to providing freshmen, sophomore, junior, and senior-level business students with an opportunity for personal and professional development through the support of a mentor.

Program Requirements

For Students: 

  • In order to participate in the program as a mentee, you must be a first-generation undergraduate student with a Mike Ilitch School of Business major. 
  • Visit Ilitch Business CMP Homepage and create an account. 
  • Complete the required forms during the account setup process. 
  • In early to mid-November, students will receive an email notifying them of their acceptance status. 
  • If accepted, students will be matched with a mentor through Xinspire's software, with oversight from the program administration. Once matched, they will receive an email with further details. 

For Potential Mentors:

  • Visit Ilitch Business CMP Homepage and create an account.
